Toyota Partners With Treehouse for Home EV Charging

Toyota Motor North America and Treehouse have launched a new collaboration designed to simplify home EV charger installation for Toyota and Lexus customers purchasing battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Announced February 23, 2026, the initiative integrates Treehouse’s software-enabled electrification platform into the vehicle ownership journey. The goal is to eliminate the typical friction associated with Level 2 home charging setup, including sourcing hardware, obtaining installation quotes, coordinating electricians, and securing permits.

Treehouse provides an end-to-end solution that covers project scoping, system design, permitting, and installation. Using proprietary virtual assessment technology, customers submit photos and complete a brief survey to receive a binding installation quote within 48 hours or less. In most cases, only a single on-site visit is required for hardware installation. Treehouse works with licensed electricians vetted to meet quality and safety standards and manages each project through completion.

All 2026 and newer Toyota and Lexus BEVs and PHEVs include a dual-voltage 120V/240V AC charging cable as standard equipment, enabling both Level 1 and Level 2 charging. With a maximum output of 7.7 kW, the cable can recharge a vehicle from roughly 10 percent state of charge to full overnight under ideal conditions. While dual-voltage cables are mandated in California and other ZEV states, Toyota has provided this equipment nationwide on BEVs since model year 2024 and on PHEVs beginning with model year 2026.

Customers seeking faster charging can opt for a hardwired ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger through Treehouse, which may reduce charging time by up to 30 percent depending on vehicle configuration. The unit supports SAE J3400 NACS plugs for 2026 and newer BEVs or SAE J1772 connectors for earlier BEVs and PHEVs. Treehouse includes a two-year installation warranty, supplementing ChargePoint’s three-year hardware warranty.

Toyota notes it is not responsible for charger installation and cannot guarantee Treehouse’s stated turnaround timelines.

Treehouse positions itself as a national, software-enabled electrical contractor that combines licensed trades with proprietary technology under one operating platform. Its mission is to accelerate decarbonization by delivering electrification projects faster, more efficiently, and at scale. The company operates across the lower 48 states and focuses on building standardized, automation-driven processes in what has traditionally been a fragmented, hyper-local industry.

Backed by venture capital firms and strategic investors including Montage Ventures, CarMax, Acrew, Assurant Ventures, Detroit Ventures, Holman, Virta Ventures, and Automotive Ventures, Treehouse is capitalized to expand nationwide electrification programs.

Culturally, the company emphasizes transparency, inclusion, urgency in scaling operations, innovation beyond industry convention, and strict adherence to safety and electrical code compliance. Treehouse aims to create high-quality, seamless customer experiences while maintaining rigorous operational standards.

Through its partnership with Toyota and Lexus, Treehouse extends this model into the automotive sector, integrating home charging and electrification services directly into the EV ownership journey.
