Stellantis and Dongfeng to Produce Two All-new Peugeot-branded NEVs in China From 2027

On May 15, 2026, Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor Group announced a new strategic cooperation agreement aimed at expanding their 34-year partnership through the shared production of Peugeot and Jeep-branded vehicles in China for both domestic sales and export markets worldwide.

The companies also signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to deepen collaboration by leveraging their combined manufacturing scale, engineering expertise, and research and development capabilities.

Under the agreement, and pending regulatory approvals and final implementation agreements, the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DPCA) joint venture is expected to begin producing two all-new Peugeot-branded new energy vehicles at its Wuhan manufacturing plant starting in 2027. The models will be based on Peugeot concept vehicles unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show and are intended for both the Chinese market and international exports as part of Peugeot’s broader global expansion strategy.

The partnership also includes plans to manufacture two Jeep-branded off-road new energy vehicles at the Wuhan facility beginning in 2027 for export to global markets.

The project is supported by automotive industry incentives from Hubei province and the Wuhan municipal government and represents a combined investment of more than 8 billion Chinese yuan, or approximately 1 billion euros. Stellantis is expected to contribute roughly 130 million euros toward the initiative.

The companies said the project remains subject to final implementation agreements covering operational and economic terms, along with customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

“With a track record of more than 30 years of collaboration and shared automotive expertise, Stellantis and Dongfeng are ready to further leverage their strengths and introduce all-new vehicles with cutting-edge EV technologies from brands that customers worldwide trust and love,” said Antonio Filosa, Stellantis CEO. “We look forward to this project and to collaborate even more in the future.”

“Dongfeng Motor has always taken the transformation and revitalization of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA) as a key strategic priority, fully supporting and advancing its sustainable development. Through the signing of this strategic cooperation, by integrating Hubei’s industrial strengths, Stellantis’ global layout advantages and Dongfeng’s intelligent electric vehicle technologies, a new path featuring complementary strengths and win-win outcomes for all parties has been forged. This will undoubtedly inject strong momentum into DPCA’s transformation,” said Qing YANG, Dongfeng Group Chairman.

Peugeot Concepts at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show

Peugeot returned to the Beijing International Auto Show in 2026, reaffirming its global ambitions in one of the world’s most influential automotive markets. The event marked a strategic moment for the brand as it accelerated its transformation toward electric and intelligent mobility while combining French design, driving pleasure, and advanced technologies.

Peugeot said its presence in Beijing reflected the company’s broader global strategy, with China playing a central role in the brand’s development as both a leading market for electric mobility and a major source of innovation shaping Peugeot’s future product lineup.

Peugeot CEO Alain Favey described the Beijing Auto Show as an opportunity not only to showcase future vehicles, but also to reaffirm the company’s ambitions in electrification, innovation, and brand positioning.

At the show, Peugeot presented a forward-looking vision centered around emotional design, electric mobility, and intelligent vehicle technologies. Staying true to its “Serious about pleasure” philosophy, the automaker emphasized its focus on building vehicles that are distinctive, desirable, and enjoyable to drive.

The company unveiled two new concept vehicles designed to preview the future direction of the brand.

The Peugeot Concept 6 showcased the company’s vision for a new generation of large sedans, combining the elegance of a sedan with the sporty character of a shooting brake. The concept emphasized refined proportions, French-inspired styling, and an emotional design language.

Meanwhile, the Peugeot Concept 8 previewed the future of the company’s large SUV lineup. The vehicle featured an aerodynamic design, a strong stance, and a focus on intuitive driving dynamics, reflecting Peugeot’s ambition to expand its SUV portfolio with larger, more technologically advanced models.

Together, the two concepts highlighted Peugeot’s emphasis on sporty design, driving enjoyment, and distinctive styling in an increasingly competitive global EV market.
