ChargePoint, Optimus Expand Fast Charging Network in Southeast

On July 7, 2026, ChargePoint announced an expansion of its partnership with Optimus Energy Solutions, a U.S.-based charge point operator, aimed at significantly increasing public EV charging access across the southeastern United States. The initiative will add more than 200 new charging ports to Optimus’ growing network, helping meet rising demand for convenient and reliable charging infrastructure.

Under the expanded agreement, ChargePoint will serve as the exclusive technology and solutions provider, supplying the charging hardware, software platform, and support services needed to deploy and manage the new sites. Optimus Energy Solutions will own and operate the charging locations, overseeing day-to-day operations and customer experience.

“Expanding access to reliable EV charging infrastructure is critical to accelerating the transition to electric mobility,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO at ChargePoint. “Our partnership with Optimus Energy Solutions demonstrates the strength of combining ChargePoint’s industry-leading charging solutions with experienced operators who are committed to building and scaling charging networks. Together, we are enabling a more seamless charging experience for drivers across the eastern U.S.”

“Our partnership with ChargePoint has been instrumental in establishing Optimus as a leader in EV charging infrastructure,” said Ben Pauluhn, President, Optimus Energy Solutions. “Leveraging ChargePoint’s technology and support allows us to meet the increasing demand for fast, reliable charging solutions. We are proud to expand our network and further support EV drivers across the Southeastern United States.”

Many of the new charging installations will be located in high-traffic areas, including quick-service restaurants, retail centers, and other destinations where drivers can conveniently shop, dine, or run errands while charging their vehicles. These types of locations have consistently demonstrated strong charger utilization by combining desirable amenities with accessible charging options.

The collaboration leverages ChargePoint’s comprehensive charging ecosystem and Optimus’ expertise in charging network operations. Together, the companies aim to address infrastructure gaps in key southeastern markets, making public charging more accessible while supporting continued electric vehicle adoption throughout the region.

The latest announcement builds on Optimus’ growing presence in the EV charging sector. Earlier this year, the company partnered with GM Energy and ChargePoint to deploy new DC fast charging locations across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, helping improve charging access throughout key travel corridors in the region.

Optimus has also demonstrated its commitment to long-term charging network operations through strategic acquisitions. In June 2026, the company acquired a major South Carolina EV fast-charging network originally developed through a Duke Energy pilot program. The network includes 52 DC fast chargers across 26 locations, many serving rural communities and major transportation routes. Optimus has committed to maintaining and operating the network for the long term, preserving critical charging access for EV drivers throughout the state.

What sets Optimus apart is its focus on both infrastructure development and ongoing operations. Building charging stations is only part of the challenge. Ensuring chargers remain functional, accessible, and reliable is equally important for creating a positive EV ownership experience. By combining site development, network operations, and strategic partnerships, the company is helping address charging gaps in markets that have historically received less attention than major metropolitan areas.
