VinFast Plans U.S. Electric Bus Launch With Charging, Maintenance and Fleet Services
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast plans to bring its electric buses to the United States, offering transit agencies and fleet operators a comprehensive package that includes vehicles, charging infrastructure, maintenance and operational support. Deliveries of buses approved for U.S. use are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2028.
VinFast announced its U.S. market plans at the APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago, where it signed an initial agreement with NexMove, a joint venture between passenger transportation company Transportation Management Services and commercial electric vehicle charging provider Zeem Solutions.
Rather than simply supplying electric buses, the partnership aims to provide an integrated solution covering the infrastructure and services required to operate electric transit fleets. NexMove plans to offer service agreements guaranteeing 97% vehicle uptime, addressing a key concern for transit agencies transitioning from diesel-powered buses to electric alternatives.
The agreement brings together VinFast’s electric bus manufacturing experience and NexMove’s planned fleet support services. By combining vehicles, charging and maintenance under one service arrangement, the partners aim to simplify electrification for public transportation operators.
VinFast Brings Electric Bus Experience From Vietnam
VinFast reports that approximately 2,000 of its electric buses are already operating in Vietnam, providing an established operating history as the company prepares to enter the U.S. market.
Its buses feature lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, fast-charging capabilities, and driver alert systems using cameras and radar. These technologies support the company’s effort to expand electric public transportation beyond its existing markets.
However, the announcement did not identify which bus models will be offered in the United States or disclose their expected driving range, pricing or charging speeds. Additional details about the vehicles’ specifications and availability remain unannounced.
Demonstration Buses and U.S. Manufacturing Plans
NexMove intends to place demonstration buses at Zeem charging depots, giving transit agencies and fleet operators opportunities to examine the vehicles. These initial demonstration vehicles will not yet have U.S. regulatory approval.
The partners also plan to develop domestic manufacturing capabilities that meet Federal Transit Administration requirements. Manufacturing in the United States could help position the buses for public transit procurement programs that require compliance with applicable federal standards. However, the companies have not announced a production location or manufacturing timeline.
Paul Gioupis, founder and CEO of Zeem Solutions and cofounder of NexMove, said his team visited VinFast’s manufacturing operations in late July and was impressed by the number of buses operating daily, as well as the scale and quality of production.
Gioupis described the buses as established products with real-world operating experience and said the partners look forward to working toward U.S. manufacturing that satisfies Federal Transit Administration requirements, allowing public transit agencies to deploy the vehicles.

Integrated Services Could Support Transit Electrification
VinFast’s planned U.S. entry reflects a broader approach to commercial vehicle electrification, in which fleet operators need more than electric vehicles alone. Charging infrastructure, maintenance, reliability and operational support are all important considerations when transitioning public transportation fleets away from diesel.
NexMove’s proposed 97% uptime guarantee is a central part of the offering, potentially giving transit agencies a defined service commitment alongside the vehicles and charging support.
With deliveries of U.S.-approved buses targeted for early 2028, VinFast and NexMove have time to develop their service offering, establish domestic manufacturing plans and complete the necessary regulatory steps. Their ability to deliver competitive vehicle specifications, reliable charging and maintenance services, and compliant U.S. production will help determine how successfully VinFast can compete in the American electric transit bus market.
EVinfo.net’s Take: Fleet EForce Delivers the Highest Fleet Uptime
Fleet EForce provides specialized service, repair, maintenance and technical support for electric buses and commercial electric vehicles across North America. The company helps fleet operators reduce vehicle downtime through remote diagnostics, on-site troubleshooting, experienced electric bus technicians and access to more than $3 million in electric bus spare parts inventory. Its services also include preventative maintenance, vehicle telematics and technical training to help fleet teams maintain vehicle reliability, extend asset life and improve fleet uptime.
As electric bus and commercial EV adoption grows, Fleet EForce addresses a critical challenge facing fleet operators: keeping vehicles operational after deployment. Its manufacturer-independent aftermarket support spans multiple electric bus platforms, providing solutions beyond traditional original equipment manufacturer service models. In September 2026, Fleet EForce also became a U.S. distributor for Xos Hub mobile DC fast-charging systems, expanding its offerings to include flexible charging solutions for commercial fleets. By combining technical expertise, parts availability, diagnostics and charging infrastructure, Fleet EForce helps operators improve reliability and reduce the total cost of electric fleet ownership.
