Honda Highlighting V2H, V2G Technologies at RE+ 25
On September 3, 2025, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced its participation at RE+ 25, North America’s largest clean energy event, taking place September 8–11 in Las Vegas. Honda will spotlight its vision for integrated home and vehicle energy management, featuring advanced zero-emission products and technologies that move beyond mobility and into the energy ecosystem.
At the center of Honda’s display will be the Acura RSX Prototype, an all-new electric SUV built on Honda’s global EV platform and fresh from its world debut at Monterey Car Week. Showcased alongside a bi-directional home charging station concept, the RSX previews future vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities, underscoring Honda’s plan to transform EVs into mobile energy assets.
Earlier this year at CES 2025, Honda unveiled its strategy to leverage EVs as “Virtual Power Plants.” By intelligently charging when electricity is cheaper and cleaner, and sending energy back to the home or grid during peak demand, Honda EVs will help customers reduce costs while supporting grid stability. At RE+, Honda will bring this vision to life for the first time.

Honda is already preparing for real-world applications. The company has partnered with Southern California Edison (SCE) to test V2H and V2G technologies using future Honda and Acura EVs. These pilots will explore how EVs can serve as backup power during outages, lower household energy costs, and provide stability to the wider power grid. The effort will be supported by ChargeScape, a joint-venture platform between Honda, BMW, Ford, and Nissan designed to integrate EVs with utilities and the grid.
For customers today, Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners can already benefit from managed charging through the Honda and Acura Home Charging Station 48-amp chargers paired with the Emporia app. The system calculates the most cost-efficient time to charge, ensuring vehicles are ready when needed while allowing drivers to earn utility incentives for reducing grid strain.
Honda’s RE+ 25 booth (#V8659) will feature a range of forward-looking products:
Acura RSX Prototype – Honda’s first Acura EV built on its new global platform, debuting mobile energy storage capabilities.
Fastport eQuad Prototype – An electric last-mile delivery vehicle with pedal-by-wire assist and swappable batteries, launching late 2025.
Bi-directional Home Charging Station Concept – Designed to enable V2H energy flow.
Home Energy Ecosystem Solutions – Including the Emporia Vue Home Energy Monitor, home battery, heat pump water heater, and rooftop solar.
Honda Fuel Cell Power Generator – A scalable stationary system (250 kW–3 MW) providing clean hydrogen-based electricity for large facilities, set for mass production in 2026.
Honda experts will also contribute to panel discussions at the event, including “Unlocking the Value of the Vehicle-to-Grid Interface (VGI)” with SCE, ChargeScape, Electrum, and Emporia, and a session titled “There Are a Lot of Different Ways to Value Stack an EV…”
Through Honda Home Electrification and Acura Home Electrification, customers can already access simple, customizable home charging solutions along with solar, storage, and energy-efficient appliances. Together, these solutions represent Honda’s commitment to lowering emissions, reducing costs, and building a more resilient energy future.
EVinfo.net’s Take
We are excited to hear American Honda moving full steam into V2X, one of the most groundbreaking and exciting new technologies to spring from the fast-moving EV revolution.
