Driving electric vehicle adoption

ALDI USA’s First DCFC Stations Are Now Live at a Number of Store Locations

ALDI USA has announced that its first DC fast charging (DCFC) stations are now live at a number of store locations, marking an important step in the company’s efforts to support electric vehicle adoption and enhance the customer experience. By introducing high-speed charging at grocery stores, ALDI is aligning EV infrastructure with everyday shopping behavior, giving drivers the ability to recharge while completing routine errands.

Building on this first phase, ALDI plans to expand DC fast charging across 22 store locations, with the full rollout expected to be completed by January 2026. This phased approach allows the company to scale deployment thoughtfully while bringing fast charging access to a broader range of communities. Once complete, the program will represent one of ALDI USA’s more substantial investments in DC fast charging to date.

For EV drivers, the addition of DCFC at ALDI stores offers a practical benefit. Fast chargers can deliver meaningful range in a short period of time, making it easier to incorporate charging into daily schedules without extended stops. From a retail perspective, charging availability also supports longer dwell times and reinforces convenience, a growing priority as more consumers transition to electric vehicles.

EVinfo.net’s Take: ALDI’s Smart Decision to Install EV Charging

I’ve shopped at ALDI in my home county of San Diego, California, and am very impressed with the store, it is one of my favorites. I’m glad ALDI made the wise decision to install EV charging, attracting more EV drivers like myself and contributing to the effort for cleaner air for all, as well as lower costs for America’s drivers, by supporting EV adoption.

Installing EV charging at grocery stores is a smart and increasingly strategic move because it aligns charging availability with routine consumer behavior. Grocery shopping naturally creates a predictable dwell time, making it an ideal use case for EV charging without requiring drivers to make a separate stop. By enabling customers to recharge while completing an essential errand, retailers can add convenience, encourage repeat visits, and increase overall time spent on site, all while meeting a growing customer expectation.

From an infrastructure and market perspective, grocery stores are well positioned to support charging deployment due to their widespread locations, consistent traffic, and proximity to residential areas. As EV adoption continues to rise and public funding becomes less certain, retail-led investments in charging infrastructure help fill critical gaps in access. For grocers, EV charging also reinforces sustainability commitments and future-proofs store locations as transportation electrification becomes mainstream.

ALDI is beating competitors by offering EV charging. EV drivers will choose ALDI when grocery shopping rather than competing stores that haven’t made the wise decision to install EV charging yet.

Lincoln Electric’s Velion 50 kW Mobile DC Fast Charger: A Compact, Rugged, and Flexible Charging Solution

As well as the fixed charging installed at ALDI, Lincoln Electric offers a rugged and versatile mobile fast charging solution, the Velion 50 kW Mobile DC Fast Charger.

Lincoln Electric, a 130-year-old American industrial manufacturer founded in 1895, has entered the rapidly growing EV charging market by leveraging its deep expertise in high-power electrical systems, manufacturing, and rugged industrial equipment. As EV adoption and DC fast charging infrastructure accelerate in 2025, Lincoln Electric sees EV charging as a natural extension of its core competencies.

The company is addressing one of the industry’s biggest challenges, reliability, by introducing its Velion DC fast chargers, which are designed for harsh environments, target uptime above 97%, and emphasize durability, serviceability, and long-term performance. With extensive domestic manufacturing capacity and a nationwide service network, Lincoln Electric aims to raise expectations for charger uptime and support across fleets, municipalities, and commercial sites.
