Driving electric vehicle adoption

Queens, Long Island NY Getting 80 New DC Fast Charging Ports

DC fast charging is gaining momentum across Queens and Long Island as Kempower and GET Charged Fast EV Charging begin deploying a new network of public fast-charging sites at high-traffic neighborhood shopping centers.

The first location has opened at Glen Oaks Shopping Center in Queens, with four additional sites scheduled to follow shortly. Once complete, the five locations will add a total of 80 public DC fast-charging ports to the region, focusing on areas where drivers can conveniently charge while completing everyday errands.

Each site is powered by Kempower’s distributed charging technology and features eight dual Kempower Satellite chargers equipped with both NACS and CCS1 connectors. This dual-standard approach ensures broad vehicle compatibility without the need for adapters.

EVinfo.net had the great honor of speaking with William Mitchell (Mitch) Anderson, who confirmed that the Queens location is the very first installation by the young company.

Anderson said: “Our two year journey that has taken more than a few turns reached a major milestone last week. We opened our first, fast EV charging station at Glen Oaks, Queens, part of New York City, the largest city in the United States and most dynamic city in the world. Our 8 charger, dual port station which features the best charging equipment in the world, Kempower, is already a huge market success. In less than two weeks we are already at 20% utilization despite starting during sub-freezing temperatures and driving snow. Our drivers are already pros at using our app and starting charging sessions despite the bad weather.”

All stations are located within neighborhood shopping centers that include grocery stores, restaurants, and other frequently visited local businesses. By integrating charging into routine stops, the network eliminates the need for dedicated charging trips and better aligns with how drivers already move through their day.

Kempower North America President Monil Malhotra noted that EV drivers globally are increasingly drawn to charging locations that offer access to a range of nearby services, such as the retail-focused charging hubs developed by GET Charged.

The stations are designed to deliver a simple, driver-friendly experience. No new apps or memberships are required, pricing is competitive, and amenities include free Wi-Fi and flexible payment options.

The Glen Oaks site, located at 259-01 Union Turnpike, is already live and open to the public, and already reported to be at 20% utilization. Additional stations in Whitestone in Queens, as well as Levittown, Elmont, and Commack on Long Island, are expected to open in early 2026.

The Get Charged network is built around flexibility and compatibility. By offering both CCS and NACS connectors at its stations, drivers can plug in without adapters or workarounds. This dual-connector approach ensures that nearly every electric vehicle on the road can charge with confidence. CCS1 connectors support high-power charging of up to 350 kW for most U.S. EVs, while native Tesla NACS connectors deliver up to 280 kW, reducing wait times and keeping drivers moving.

For property owners, Get Charged fast chargers do more than provide power. They attract foot traffic, encourage customers to stay longer, and create new revenue opportunities. Installing modern EV charging infrastructure helps sites remain competitive as EV adoption accelerates, while also demonstrating a visible commitment to sustainability and cleaner transportation.

Get Charged offers comprehensive, end-to-end support for host locations. From site assessment and design to installation and ongoing maintenance, the company manages the entire charging lifecycle so partners can focus on their core business.

EVinfo.net’s Take: EV Charging and EVs will Keep Growing Fast in the USA and Worldwide

The USA’s EV sales are currently down, but that’s temporary. A lot of critics point to the billions in EV losses by Ford and GM, trying to say EVs are dying in America. The opposite is true. EVs are still growing despite the temporary setbacks.

Q3 2025 charging deployment across the U.S. followed 2024’s trends and is still on pace to meet or beat Paren’s projections of 16,700 new ports in 2025, said Paren’s US EV Fast Charging — Q3 2025 report. Utilization trends were up in Q3 2025 as summer travel season showed across-the-board increases in EV charging sessions in most states supported by the growing infrastructure, especially with the number of larger, 8+ port stations from all networks.

EVinfo.net congratulates Kempower and GET Charged Fast EV Charging on this amazing news. This is further proof that EV charging is still a good investment and still growing in the United States.
