Hyundai Launching A Mobile EV Service Fleet

Hyundai is expanding its mobile vehicle service program across the United States, bringing dealership maintenance directly to customers’ homes and workplaces through a growing fleet of service vans.

Following a successful pilot program with dealers, Hyundai plans to increase the rollout nationwide with a target of 150 active mobile service vans by the end of the year. The program mirrors mobile service strategies already used by companies like Rivian, where technicians travel directly to customers to complete routine maintenance and minor repairs on-site.

Hyundai says each mobile service van is equipped with the necessary tools, diagnostic software, and Dealer Management System integrations required to perform service work remotely. The vans are staffed by factory-trained technicians using genuine Hyundai replacement parts.

The mobile units can perform a range of approved maintenance services and routine repairs, including software updates, tire rotations, brake pad and rotor replacements, service recalls, and washing and detailing.

Customers can schedule appointments directly through participating Hyundai dealer websites, allowing service visits to take place at home or at work instead of requiring a trip to the dealership.

Michel Poirier, vice president of aftersales and customer experience at Hyundai Motor America, said the program is designed to reduce inconvenience for customers by minimizing time spent traveling to dealerships and waiting for service appointments.

The expansion reflects a broader shift in the automotive industry toward convenience-focused ownership experiences. Mobile service programs have become increasingly popular among EV manufacturers and automakers looking to streamline customer support and improve service accessibility.

While Hyundai’s mobile service vans can handle many common maintenance tasks, more complex mechanical or warranty-related repairs will still require vehicles to be brought into traditional dealership service centers.

Mobile EV Service Is Expanding Rapidly Across the United States

The way Americans service their vehicles is starting to change dramatically, especially as electric vehicle adoption accelerates nationwide. Instead of driving to dealerships and waiting hours for basic maintenance or diagnostics, more EV owners are beginning to expect service technicians to come directly to them.

Mobile EV service is quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing trends in the automotive industry.

The trend reflects broader changes happening throughout the transportation industry. EVs generally require less routine maintenance than gasoline-powered vehicles because they have fewer moving parts, no oil changes, and simplified drivetrains.

For customers, the convenience factor is enormous. Mobile service reduces downtime, avoids dealership wait times, and allows repairs to happen while drivers are at work or at home. For fleet operators, mobile service can also improve uptime and reduce operational disruptions.

The expansion is also creating new opportunities for independent service providers, charging companies, and roadside assistance startups. For dealerships, its a way to stand out among the competition and win additional repair business.

AAA and some other companies are now offering mobile charging, battery diagnostics, and emergency roadside EV charging in major cities.

As EV adoption continues to grow across the United States, mobile service is likely to become a standard part of vehicle ownership rather than a premium feature. Consumers increasingly expect transportation services to be faster, more digital, and more convenient, and automakers are responding.

The future of vehicle maintenance may no longer revolve around service centers. Increasingly, the service center is coming directly to the customer.
