Loomis Announces First Electric Armored Car Trip from Dallas Branch
On June 3, 2026, Loomis announced that its first electric armored car route went out from its Dallas, Texas branch. Commonly known as armored cars or armored trucks, the vehicles are officially known as cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicles.
Loomis, a global leader in cash management and high-value item transportation, has been one of Xos’s longest-running fleet customers. The relationship dates back to 2019, when Xos deployed its first fully battery-electric CIT commercial truck with Loomis, marking an important milestone for both companies.
Several years later, the collaboration continues to grow as Loomis advances its fleet electrification efforts. Operating across 23 countries and maintaining nearly 200 locations throughout the United States, Loomis currently utilizes battery-electric trucks built by Xos to support its operations.

Loomis made this statement: “This milestone represents an important step forward in our commitment to Loomis sustainability initiatives and our continued effort to modernize operations while reducing our environmental impact. This is more than just deploying a new vehicle; it reflects our focus on:
Driving innovation in our operations
Supporting environmentally responsible practices
Showcasing our capabilities on a high-visibility, customer-facing route
Positioning Loomis for long-term, sustainable growth
We are not stopping here; by the end of this week, we will add two additional EV routes, followed by three more next week, as we continue to expand this initiative. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. Your planning, execution, and commitment are what move initiatives like this from concept to reality. Let’s continue to build on this momentum.”
The partnership has expanded beyond vehicles to include charging infrastructure through Xos Energy Solutions (XES). Xos recently installed its first charging project for Loomis at the company’s Montebello, California facility, featuring seven Level 2 charging stations.
According to Xos, XES was created to help fleet operators simplify the transition from internal combustion vehicles to electric transportation by providing charging infrastructure, consulting services, and deployment support. The company noted that installing fleet charging infrastructure involves a number of complex steps, including assessing site conditions and available electrical capacity, designing safe and efficient charging layouts, obtaining permits and approvals, coordinating with local authorities, and managing electrical installation work.
To further support commercial fleet electrification, Xos introduced a lineup of DC fast chargers designed for medium- and heavy-duty Class 5 through Class 8 vehicles. The portfolio includes a 30 kW portable charger, a 30 kW wall-mounted charger, a 60 kW charger, a 150 kW charger, and a 300 kW charger.
These charging products are available through Xos Energy Solutions and complement the company’s broader charging ecosystem, which includes the Xos Hub mobile charging station and Xos Serv support services.
Formerly known as Thor Trucks, Xos rebranded in 2019 and has continued to expand its presence in the commercial EV sector. The company has announced several notable developments, including a partnership with Thermo King, the delivery of 65 battery-electric vans to Merchants Fleet, and the addition of new service partners to support its growing customer base.
