Driving electric vehicle adoption

Off-Road Moab Edition 2026 Jeep Recon EV Is Now on Sale in U.S.

Jeep’s first purpose-built off-road electric SUV is officially here. The 2026 Jeep Recon EV has now gone on sale in the United States with a starting price of $66,995, though its EPA-rated driving range lands slightly below earlier expectations.

The Recon arrives after a turbulent period for Stellantis’ electrification strategy, which included a broader “reset” of its EV roadmap and uncertainty around several future models. While production of the Wagoneer S EV was delayed and trimmed back, Jeep leadership reiterated that the Recon remained on track for launch.

As a result, the 2026 Jeep Recon EV is now available to order, initially in the range-topping Moab trim. Stellantis had previously projected up to 250 miles of range for the model, with around 230 miles for the off-road focused variant. The final EPA estimate for the Moab comes in at 222 miles.

Despite the shorter-than-expected range, Jeep is positioning the Recon as the first and only fully electric Trail Rated SUV, reinforcing its off-road identity in an increasingly electrified lineup.

Built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, the Recon features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing around 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures suggest a 0 to 60 mph time of roughly 3.6 seconds, placing it among the quickest vehicles in Jeep’s history.

Each axle uses a dedicated electric drive module, and the Moab trim includes an upgraded rear unit with a 15:1 final drive ratio designed to improve low-speed torque control in off-road conditions.

The Recon is equipped with 33-inch tires, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system with drive modes including Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and a Rock mode exclusive to the Moab variant.

In a nod to the Wrangler, the Recon also features removable doors and rear quarter glass, along with a swing-gate design that emphasizes open-air off-road capability.

Inside, the cabin includes more than 26 inches of combined digital display space, featuring a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen.

Charging performance allows the battery to go from 5% to 80% in about 28 minutes, or add roughly 100 miles of range in around 10 minutes under fast charging conditions.

Jeep will launch the Recon first in North America, with plans to expand into Europe, the UK, and other global markets in the future.
