U.S. News Names Best 2025 Hybrid and Electric Cars

On April 16, 2025, U.S. News & World Report, the well-respected global authority in rankings and consumer advice, announced the winners of the 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars Awards, highlighting the top-performing vehicles across 10 categories. For the second consecutive year, Hyundai emerged as the top performer, earning the most awards of any automaker. Three Hyundai models retained their top spots:

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 also ranked highest on J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study.

Repeat Champions Continue to Impress

Several other models also defended their titles:

The Ford F-150 Lightning continued its dominance as Best Electric Truck, a title it has held since the category’s introduction in 2023.

The Lucid Air was once again named Best Luxury Electric Car, marking its fourth consecutive win.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid held its ground as Best Hybrid Car, while the Lexus NX Hybrid was again named Best Luxury Hybrid.

These consecutive victories reflect consistent performance and critical acclaim in an increasingly competitive market.

Newcomers Make Their Mark

This year’s awards also recognized several first-time winners, signaling a shift in innovation and consumer demand:

The Rivian R1S earned Best Luxury Electric SUV, praised for its impressive range, refined performance, and modern infotainment system.

The Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid took the title of Best Luxury Plug-In Hybrid thanks to its quick acceleration, premium interior, and extensive standard features.

The Mazda CX-90 PHEV stood out as the Best Plug-In Hybrid, offering a powerful drivetrain, agile handling, and a comfortable three-row layout.
