Harbinger Powers Into Canada With Medium-Duty Electric Trucks

California-based Harbinger is bringing its top-quality, impressive medium-duty hybrid and battery-electric vehicle lineup to Canada, targeting fleet operators with zero-emission trucks designed for urban and regional routes. The company is now accepting orders for its electrified trucks, signaling a major step in expanding its North American footprint.

“The industry response to Harbinger vehicles shows strong demand for durable, affordable, and environmentally friendly alternatives to gas and diesel fleets,” said CEO John Harris. “In Canada, where federal EV mandates are more stringent, our vehicles help companies meet regulations while offering best-in-class medium-duty performance.”

Canada maintains strict zero-emission vehicle requirements, mandating that 35% of medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sales be electric by 2030, rising to 100% by 2040. Provinces such as Quebec and British Columbia are leading the charge, with Quebec registering 36.7% of new vehicles as EVs in 2022 and offering incentives through the iMHZEV program. This includes up to CAD 75,000 for Class 4 and 5 vehicles, CAD 100,000 for Class 6, and 50% funding for extended-range hybrid trucks, in addition to provincial programs.

Harbinger recently showcased its all-electric step van at ACT 2025. The four-battery pack version delivers a maximum range of 140 miles per charge and 13,700 lb-ft of torque, making it well-suited for daily delivery operations. The company also revealed a plug-in hybrid variant capable of up to 500 miles of range.

Harbinger estimates that fully electric trucks are a practical solution for approximately 80% of current medium-duty applications, especially last-mile delivery. These routes often involve predictable daily shifts, allowing vehicles to return to base for overnight Level 2 charging, making electrification both efficient and cost-effective.
