Hino Le Series Medium-duty Electric Truck Debuts at ACT Expo
Hino Trucks introduced its Le Series battery-electric medium-duty truck at ACT Expo 2026, confirming production will begin in Q3 2026. The new model features a 269 kWh battery from Hexagon Purus and targets Class 6 and lower Class 7 applications with GVWR options of 25,950 pounds (L6e) and 33,000 pounds (L7e).
The Le Series expands Hino’s zero-emission lineup, joining the Tern RC8 Class 8 tractor, which shares key components including battery systems, Panasonic Energy lithium-ion cells, and an integrated e-axle from Accelera by Cummins. The new truck replaces an earlier concept introduced in 2023 under a now-ended partnership with SEA Electric.

At its core, the Le Series uses a single 269 kWh ProPack battery operating at up to 750 volts. It is paired with the Accelera 14Xe Gen 4.5 e-axle, which integrates motor, transmission, and axle into a single unit, delivering 260 kW (348 hp) peak and 180 kW (241 hp) continuous output.
Charging is handled via CCS Type 1 DC fast charging at up to 120 kW, allowing the battery to reach 80 percent state of charge in about 1.8 hours. This setup aligns with depot-based operations where vehicles charge during downtime rather than relying on public corridor infrastructure.
Hino emphasized driver and fleet usability. The truck includes programmable regenerative braking to optimize energy recovery based on route conditions, along with improved weight distribution for better handling under load. Reduced cabin noise and smoother torque delivery are expected to improve driver comfort, particularly on urban, stop-and-go routes.
For upfit flexibility, the chassis retains a clear back-of-cab design, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including box trucks, refrigerated units, and utility bodies.
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning systems.
Hino positions the Le Series as a practical solution focused on total cost of ownership, leveraging its existing dealer and service network rather than competing solely on range or peak performance metrics, which were not disclosed at launch.
Hino Trucks is the truck and bus division of Toyota Motor Corporation, focused on commercial vehicles ranging from medium-duty delivery trucks to heavy-duty fleet applications. Founded in Japan in 1942, Hino has grown into one of the world’s better-known commercial vehicle brands, with a particularly strong presence in Asia, North America, and other international fleet markets.
In the United States, Hino entered the market in 1984 and has built a strong position in Classes 4 through 7 trucks, serving industries such as logistics, food distribution, construction, towing, municipal services, and last-mile delivery. Its North American lineup includes the L Series and XL Series, which are designed for vocational flexibility, durability, and total cost of ownership.
