One Year Later: How VoltiE Rebuilt the JuiceBox Cloud

In July 2025, VoltiE Group announced that it would take over support for JuiceBox chargers after Enel X Way shut down its North American operations on October 11, 2024. The company promised JuiceBox owners that their chargers would keep running and that a full roadmap would follow.

A year ago, EVinfo.net wrote about VoltiE and its plans for the U.S. market. Now, it’s time to have a look at what this ambitious young company has managed to perform.

Big Promise – Big Responsibility

When Enel X Way shut down its North American operations, JuiceBox owners lost access to critical cloud-based features. Home chargers lost app control, scheduling and energy data. Commercial stations stopped taking payments, and property owners lost revenue.

There was no working system left to maintain, so VoltiE had to build a new one. The stakes were high, and there was little room for error.

A Rough Start

The first months weren’t smooth, and JuiceBox owners didn’t hide their frustration. Some customers couldn’t complete registration because verification emails weren’t arriving. VoltiE’s website wasn’t initially ready for the volume of traffic, and the new team had to start from scratch.

Rather than patching the old platform, VoltiE built a new backend from the ground up on new cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States. Existing chargers were moved to the new system over the air, with no technician visit or hardware changes required.

On top of that platform, VoltiE built:

  • The VoltiE Power Up app for homeowners and businesses ([iOS] | [Android])
  • A web dashboard for homeowners, property managers and fleet managers
  • Payments and revenue reporting for commercial stations, allowing station owners to earn from their chargers again

Some people wondered whether JuiceBox could survive the transition. A year later, the numbers tell a different story.

Where Things Stand Today

Let’s look at some numbers to get a sense of what the team has accomplished over the past year:

  • 40,000+ JuiceBox chargers connected to the VoltiE backend
  • 12,000+ homeowners managing their chargers through the VoltiE Power Up app
  • About 2,000 commercial and public stations back online for more than 200 business customers
  • Full support for JuiceBox 1.x and 2.x
  • Support response times of up to two hours

What Does It Mean for You as a JuiceBox Owner? Is My Charger Supported?

Check the charger ID on your unit:

ModelCharger ID starts with
JuiceBox 1.x08
JuiceBox 2.0091
JuiceBox 2.2092

What Does It Cost?

The app is free for residential users. Optional paid features are also available.

How Do I Reconnect?

  1. Download the VoltiE Power Up app.
  2. If you have an Enel X/JuiceNet account, reset your password and log in.
  3. If you’re a new user, create an account and add your charger using its serial number.

Utility Managed-Charging Programs

Utility managed-charging programs are active again, and the VoltiE team is reconnecting them one by one. If your utility program is important to you, contact the utility provider or VoltiE support team for help with re-enrollment.

Buying a New JuiceBox

New units are available to purchase. Every new unit comes with a two-year VoltiE warranty.

A note on older warranties: VoltiE cannot honor warranties issued by Enel X Way. However, support, software and app access remain available for every supported JuiceBox, regardless of when or where it was purchased.

“JuiceBox became legendary for a reason. It sat at the top of Amazon’s charger category for years, and it was the one bloggers and installers kept recommending. Then came a few bumpy years and a shutdown. We’re the people who made that charger what it was, and we intend to make it that again,” said Oleksii Kononenko, Vice President of Technology at VoltiE.

Growing Beyond the Rescue

What started as a challenge to keep an existing charging ecosystem running has since grown into a broader EV charging business. Over the past year, VoltiE has expanded its technology, customer base and commercial partnerships with the top U.S. companies and businesses.

Here’s a look at some of the new installations in 2026:

  • Metro National, Houston, TX
  • The Monde Apartments, Scottsdale, AZ
  • One Park Tower, North Miami, FL
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, FL
  • NEXO, North Miami Beach, FL
  • Society Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Society Nashville, Nashville, TN
  • St. Regis, Sunny Isles, FL
  • And many more

What’s Next?

It’s been a challenging period, but over the past year, the VoltiE team has shown that rebuilding an EV charging ecosystem is possible — and that the company is prepared to keep developing the technology behind it.

What began as an effort to keep JuiceBox chargers running has become something bigger: a growing EV charging company with its own infrastructure, software and an expanding network of customers and partners. The company has over 100,000 chargers to be connected and is currently working on it.
