Mercedes GLB Reborn as Exciting Electric
Mercedes has officially unveiled the new GLB as a fully electric SUV, bringing more interior space, elevated luxury, and a long list of upgrades to the compact utility segment. While its boxy silhouette remains familiar, the latest GLB launches for the first time with an all electric powertrain.
At launch, the electric GLB will be offered in two versions: the GLB 250+ with EQ Technology and the performance oriented GLB 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology. A high-tech hybrid variant will follow shortly after.

The rear wheel drive GLB 250+ delivers 268 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. For drivers seeking stronger performance and all wheel drive, the GLB 350 4MATIC produces 349 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, cutting the 0 to 60 mph time to 5.4 seconds. Both models use a new 85 kWh lithium-ion battery. The 250+ is rated for up to 631 km, or 392 miles, of WLTP range, while the AWD version offers up to 614 km, or 381 miles. On the EPA scale, Mercedes expects around 330 miles for the 250+ and roughly 320 miles for the 350 4MATIC.
Fast charging is another highlight. With DC charging speeds of up to 320 kW at 800-volt stations, the electric GLB can add about 260 km, or 161 miles, of WLTP range in just 10 minutes.

Visually, the electric GLB stands apart with a bold new front end. It features a massive illuminated grille made up of 94 individually animated LED stars and a glowing Mercedes emblem. This futuristic grille design is exclusive to the electric version, while the hybrid model will retain a more traditional look.
Inside, the new GLB offers more headroom in both the first and second rows thanks to a redesigned roofline and standard panoramic roof. Second row passengers also benefit from additional legroom. The cabin can be configured with five or seven seats, and Mercedes says the second and third rows can accommodate up to four child seats.

The centerpiece of the interior is the optional floating MBUX Superscreen, which stretches more than 38 inches across the dashboard. It combines a 10.25 inch driver display, a 14 inch central touchscreen, and a 14 inch passenger screen. The steering wheel has been redesigned for improved ergonomics and brings back physical rocker switches for cruise control and volume.
The new GLB EV runs on Mercedes’ in-house MB.OS software, enabling over the air updates and advanced driver assistance features. Its fourth generation MBUX system integrates artificial intelligence from both Microsoft and Google, supporting personalized virtual assistants, Google Maps, and smarter in car functions.

Mercedes will announce US pricing and final EPA range figures closer to launch. With the 2026 CLA EV starting at $47,250, the electric GLB is expected to arrive at a slightly higher price point.
