EVgo Plans Thousands of New Fast Chargers Near Kroger Stores and Other Amenities, Opens First Location in Utah

EVgo Inc., one of the largest public fast charging providers in the United States, announced plans to deploy a minimum of 150 additional fast charging stalls per year through 2035 at Kroger Family of Stores locations nationwide. The initiative expands on the existing partnership launched in 2022 and is designed to equip select Kroger-affiliated grocery stores with up to 16 high-power fast charging stalls per site, enabling customers to charge their vehicles while shopping. The company announced the news on January 13, 2026.

The first new location under the expanded collaboration is already operating in Salt Lake City, Utah, with further sites planned in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Washington, and additional states. EVgo chargers will be installed across Kroger Family of Stores including Kroger, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, and Smith’s Food and Drug. The charging stations will utilize high-power EVgo units capable of providing a full charge in approximately 15 minutes, aligning well with typical grocery visit durations of under an hour. The addition of charging infrastructure offers convenience for EV drivers and creates economic advantages for host sites by increasing shopper traffic and spend.

“EVgo’s expanded relationship with Kroger introduces more fast charging options into Americans’ everyday lives,” said Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo. “Kroger is the grocery destination of choice for millions of Americans. Adding fast charging to Kroger locations will provide the growing number of EV drivers an essential amenity – the convenience of charging where they shop while empowering drivers with the freedom to choose electric.”

EVgo currently operates more than 4,600 charging stalls across the country and expects to have over 15,000 stalls energized by the end of 2029. More information is available at EVgo’s website.

EVgo Autocharge+ Surpasses 5 Million Sessions and Sixfold Enrollment Growth, Delivering Seamless EV Charging Nationwide

EVgo Inc. announced that it has exceeded five million charging sessions completed through Autocharge+, the company’s plug-and-charge capability. Since 2023, customer participation in Autocharge+ has expanded sixfold, and more than 300,000 drivers are currently enrolled.

Almost 80 different EV models are now compatible with Autocharge+, with additional models expected to qualify as new vehicles launch. The program has seen particularly strong adoption among owners of Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, and Rivian vehicles.

Autocharge+ enables drivers with eligible vehicles to begin a fast-charging session simply by plugging in at any EVgo station, eliminating extra steps. After completing a one-time enrollment, drivers can initiate charging automatically without handling cards or interacting with the app during each session. The capability supports most CCS vehicles and is also available to new native NACS vehicles. Tesla drivers may use Autocharge+ either with a Tesla CCS1 adapter or at EVgo stations equipped with native NACS connectors. Nearly 30 percent of all charging sessions on the EVgo network are currently launched through Autocharge+, and the streamlined experience is contributing to higher overall charging success rates.

Enrollment in Autocharge+ can be completed directly within the EVgo mobile application, available on both iOS and Android platforms. The app currently carries a 4.5-star rating in the Apple App Store. Once enrolled, drivers simply park, plug in, and charging begins automatically as payment and session authorization are combined into one process.

EVgo also offers multiple pricing and subscription options designed to serve different usage patterns. Plans such as EVgo PlusMax, EVgo Plus, and Pay As You Go allow drivers to select the structure that best aligns with their daily, weekly, or occasional charging requirements, with pricing varying by plan.

Additional details, including the complete list of eligible vehicle models, are available on EVgo’s website under the Autocharge+ program page.
