Volkswagen Delivers Two Millionth All-Electric Vehicle to Customer
On February 27, 2026, Volkswagen (VW) reported that the company delivered its two millionth all-electric vehicle, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s electrification strategy. The anniversary vehicle, an ID.3 produced at the Zwickau plant, was handed over to customer Kirsten Vormbrock at the Transparent Factory in Dresden.
The company began its electric journey in 2013 with the launch of the e-up! and has continuously expanded its battery-electric portfolio. The two million vehicles delivered include not only models from the ID. family but also earlier electric vehicles such as the e-up! and e-Golf. Today, Volkswagen holds a leading position in the battery-electric vehicle market in Germany and across Europe and ranks among the highest-volume electric vehicle manufacturers worldwide.
Martin Sander, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, said the milestone highlights the attractiveness and competitiveness of Volkswagen’s all-electric lineup, particularly in its core European markets.

Three models have been central to achieving this volume. The ID.3, with approximately 628,000 deliveries, was the first vehicle built on Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix platform and marked the brand’s entry into a new era of electromobility in 2020. Positioned in the compact segment, it made electric mobility accessible to a broad customer base, and an updated version will be introduced soon.
The ID.4, with approximately 901,000 deliveries including the ID.5, has served as a global growth driver, expanding Volkswagen’s presence in Europe, China, and the United States.
The ID.7, with approximately 132,000 deliveries, entered the portfolio in 2023 as an all-electric saloon and was later joined by the ID.7 Tourer estate. It represents the technological progress of the ID. family, offering long range, efficiency, and comfort in the upper mid-range segment.

Volkswagen plans to introduce four new electric models in 2026 in the small and compact car segments. The near-production ID. Polo concept will be the first of these vehicles and is intended to broaden access to affordable electric mobility in the high-volume small car market.
The delivery of the milestone vehicle in Dresden reflects Volkswagen’s focus on customer experience. Although series production has ended at the Transparent Factory, the site now emphasizes brand engagement through themed exhibits and production demonstrations. In 2025, around 3,500 vehicles were delivered there, more than 90 percent of them electric or hybrid, making it Volkswagen’s second-largest delivery center in Germany after Wolfsburg.
The Zwickau plant remains a key pillar of Volkswagen’s electric production network, manufacturing around 212,000 electric vehicles in 2025. Globally, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand operates 28 production sites in 12 countries and delivered approximately 4.7 million vehicles in 2025, including about 382,000 all-electric models. With roughly 170,000 employees worldwide, the company continues advancing its BOOST 2030 strategy to become the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility.
