Gyre9 and G9EV Are Building American-Made EV Charging Solutions
Cox Automotive reported in July that new U.S. EV sales performance in Q2 suggests the market may be stabilizing. New product launches, state-level incentive programs, and ongoing consumer interest are helping support demand. While the market is smaller than it was before the federal EV tax credit was cut, Cox Automotive continues to believe the long-term trajectory for EV adoption remains positive.
As EV adoption grows across North America, the demand for reliable, high-quality charging infrastructure continues to increase. Connecticut-based Gyre9 and its sister company, G9EV, are helping meet that demand by designing, engineering, manufacturing, and supporting commercial EV charging equipment built in the United States.
Gyre9 has extensive experience in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), offering end-to-end product development that includes industrial design, mechanical and electrical engineering, testing, certification, manufacturing, and production support. The company develops Level 2 & Level 3 charging solutions for residential, commercial, and public applications and is one of the few U.S. manufacturers capable of producing EV charging stations to customer specifications. Its expertise spans thermal management, structural engineering, weather protection, ADA compliance, cable management, power electronics, revenue-grade metering, smart controllers, and networking integration with numerous charging station management systems.
The company also has extensive experience certifying charging equipment for markets throughout the United States, Canada & Mexico. Its manufacturing operations emphasize the U.S.-based design, domestic supply chains where possible, functional testing, configuration, final assembly, refurbishment, replacement parts, and quality assurance.
Building on that experience, Gyre9 launched G9EV to bring its own line of commercial EV chargers to market. G9EV was founded by Ed Gilchrest and Frank von Holzhausen, leveraging years of experience developing and manufacturing EV charging equipment. von Holzhausen serves as Chief Design Officer of Gyre9 and Chairman of G9EV. Gilchrest serves as President of Gyre9 and G9EV.
The company was created following the closure of JuiceBar, with the goal of continuing product development while introducing new charging technologies and supporting existing customers.

G9EV manufactures its charging equipment in Connecticut and has deployed products in more than 40 states while continuing to expand across Canada. The company’s focus is on durable, commercial-grade charging stations that are easy to install, maintain, and customize for site hosts. Standard features include pedestal or wall mounting, built-in cable retractors, custom branding options, open-network compatibility, and installation that can be completed in as little as 15 minutes. New chargers also include a complimentary three-year warranty, with extended warranty options available.
Among G9EV’s quality products is the Legacy Level 2 charger, available in single- and dual-port configurations with output options ranging from 32 to 80 amps. The charger supports OCPP 1.6J, cellular and Ethernet connectivity, RFID authentication, ENERGY STAR certification for dual-port models, and optional pedestal or wall mounting. Its all-metal enclosure incorporates the company’s proven electronics and integrated cable management while offering custom branding for commercial deployments.
Beyond manufacturing new equipment, G9EV also provides commissioning, activation, maintenance, repair, replacement parts, and field service through a nationwide network of certified service providers. The company also supports legacy JuiceBar charging stations by supplying replacement components, repair services, and assistance transitioning chargers to supported charging networks or standalone operation.
As public and commercial charging infrastructure continues expanding, reliable equipment and long-term service support are becoming increasingly important. Through American manufacturing, engineering expertise, and comprehensive lifecycle support, Gyre9 and G9EV are helping strengthen the EV charging ecosystem while supporting the continued growth of electric transportation across North America.
