Kia Announces Pricing for 2025 EV9 Three-row EV SUV

Kia America has officially announced the pricing for the highly acclaimed all-electric 2025 Kia EV9 three-row EV SUV. Notably, the only trim experiencing a price adjustment is the Light Long Range variant, which sees a modest increase of just $700. All other trims will maintain their pricing from the 2024 model year. Since its launch last year, the EV9 has garnered a large number of prestigious awards, including the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle, as well as being recognized in Car and Driver’s 10 Best, Kelley Blue Book’s Best 3-Row Electric Vehicle, and MotorWeek’s Best EV categories. As the EV9 enters its second model year, it will feature minor updates in color and trim.

For the 2025 model year, the Kia EV9 is set to receive several significant updates. Among the options, the Light Long Range RWD trim will now come standard with a front sunroof, enhancing the vehicle’s features and appeal. However, for the Land Trim AWD, the Relaxation Seat Package will no longer be available as an option.

In terms of colors, Kia is introducing two new exterior options: Glacial White Pearl and Ebony Black. Conversely, the exterior colors Ivory Silver Gloss, Ivory Silver Matte, and Ocean Blue Matte will be removed from the lineup. Additionally, two interior color options—Dark Gray and Navy on the GT-Line trim—will also be discontinued.

The 2025 Kia EV9 stands out in the crowded electric SUV market, particularly for its three-row seating and mainstream brand pedigree. Known for its spacious interior, the EV9 accommodates passengers comfortably, even in the third row, making it an ideal choice for families. It offers a lot of features at a competitive price point, ensuring that buyers get significant value for their investment. The vehicle delivers a smooth and quiet ride on the highway, enhancing the overall driving experience. Additionally, its quick charging capability makes long road trips more manageable.

While the existing EV9 versions remain largely unchanged for 2025, there’s buzz about the potential introduction of a performance-oriented EV9 GT, which could bring the exhilarating power from Kia’s EV6 GT. This GT variant is rumored to feature around 575 horsepower, delivering rapid acceleration—though this might affect the vehicle’s range.

The EV9 competes with luxury three-row electric SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Rivian R1S, and Volvo EX90, but its starting price significantly undercuts these alternatives, making it an attractive option for buyers. Ultimately, the EV9 is more than just a competitive price; it combines spaciousness, impressive features, and solid performance, solidifying its place as one of the top all-electric SUVs for 2025.

Powertrain Specs and Range

The 2025 Kia EV9 offers various configurations to cater to different performance and range needs, starting with the base Light trim. The Light trim features a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and is available with two battery options. The standard 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery provides 215 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque, offering an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds. For those seeking a longer range, the Light trim can be equipped with a 99.8 kWh Long Range battery pack. However, the motor’s output is slightly reduced to 201 hp to maximize range, which extends to 304 miles, though the 0-60 mph time increases to 8.8 seconds.

The higher trims—Wind, Land, and GT-Line—come standard with the larger battery and dual motors, providing all-wheel drive (AWD). These motors combine for a total output of 379 horsepower and 443 pounds-feet of torque, with an optional Boost upgrade available over-the-air that increases torque to 516 pounds-feet. The Wind and Land trims deliver an EPA-estimated 280 miles of range, while the GT-Line offers 270 miles. In terms of acceleration, both the Wind and Land trims can sprint to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, but with the Boost upgrade, they match the GT-Line’s impressive 5.0-second time.

Towing capacity varies by trim, with the Light trim rated for up to 2,000 pounds, the Wind for 3,500 pounds, and the Land and GT-Line capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds with a braked trailer. This combination of performance, range, and towing capability makes the EV9 a versatile electric SUV, suited for a variety of driving needs.

Kia America to Offer North American Charging Standard (NACS) Adapters in Early 2025

Kia America is set to introduce North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for its award-winning EV6 and EV9 models. Customers who take delivery of a new 2024 or 2025 Kia EV9 or 2024 Kia EV6 after September 4, 2024, will receive an adapter at no additional cost. This adapter will provide access to over 16,500 NACS DC fast chargers across the United States, with customer deliveries of the free adapters expected to begin in early 2025.

For Kia EV6, EV9, and Niro EV customers who received their vehicles before September 4, 2024, there will be an opportunity to purchase an adapter from an authorized Kia dealer in the future. Access to the DC fast chargers is scheduled for January 15, 2025.

Three types of NACS adapters will be made available: NACS to CCS1, CCS1 to NACS, and J1772 to NACS. The NACS to CCS1 adapter will enable existing Kia EVs to utilize DC fast charging, while the CCS1 coupler to NACS port will allow NACS-equipped Kia EVs to charge at existing CCS DC chargers. Additionally, the J1772 to NACS adapter will facilitate AC charging for NACS-equipped Kia EVs at existing Level 2 chargers.
