Bird Global, Inc. (NYSE:BRDS), the frontrunner in sustainable electric transportation, is thrilled to announce the initiation of an exclusive pilot program in partnership with the City of Indio, California. The unique agreement will enable Bird to introduce its shared e-scooter service to the renowned “City of Festivals”. Indio, famously recognized as the home of the Coachella festival, which is set to commence on Friday, April 15, and Stagecoach, scheduled later this month, will now benefit from Bird’s eco-friendly transportation solution. The move signifies Bird’s commitment to reducing carbon footprint and enhancing urban mobility in event-packed cities.

As the cost of gasoline continues to surge, Bird’s innovative program arrives at a pivotal juncture, offering a clean, sustainable alternative to gas-powered transportation. This initiative is particularly significant considering the recent expansion of Bird’s vehicle fleet in major metropolitan areas such as New York City and Washington, D.C. The integration of e-scooters not only presents a cost-effective commuting solution but also aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. Bird continues to solidify its position as a leader in eco-friendly urban mobility solutions.

“We applaud the City of Indio for their commitment to embracing convenient, environmentally-friendly and reliable transportation options to residents and visitors in their community,” said Brian Buccella, Senior Vice President of Global Policy at Bird. “We are honored to serve the community and all of the visitors that come from around the world to enjoy Indio and all that it has to offer.”

Residents and visitors to Indio, aged 18 years or older, now have the convenience of accessing Bird’s fleet of low-emission micro-electric vehicles via the free Bird mobile app. Riders are required to adhere to standard operating rules, ensuring that all Bird scooters are operated on streets, bike lanes, and designated bike paths. This underscores Bird’s unwavering commitment to facilitating clean, efficient, and rule-abiding urban mobility.

“We are excited to welcome Bird to the City of Indio,” said Indio Mayor Waymond Fermon. “Whether going to the Farmers Market downtown, seeing some of the city’s new sculptures, commuting to work or school, residents and visitors now have another fun, eco-friendly way to get around.”

The arrival of Bird’s e-scooters in Indio marks a significant milestone in the field of green transportation. Bird, with its proven track record as a reliable partner, has consistently demonstrated its ability to adapt and respond effectively during large-scale events and unexpected transit disruptions. Leveraging years of operational know-how, Bird has devised a robust and efficient strategy that ensures the continued provision of mobility services, while seamlessly integrating with existing transport networks during high-profile events. This will serve as a valuable asset for the City of Indio.

With Coachella set to take place from April 15 to 17 and again from April 22 to 24, followed by Stagecoach from April 29 to May 1, Indio and Bird are set to usher in a new era of eco-friendly transportation. The introduction of e-scooters to the community not only represents a step forward in sustainable commuting but also underlines the shared commitment of the City of Indio and Bird to progress and environmental stewardship.
