McNeilus Volterra Electric Refuse and Recycling Vehicle to Be Showcased at CES 2026

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc., a Dodge Center, Minnesota-based business unit of Oshkosh Corp., will showcase its latest refuse and recycling collection technologies at CES 2026, January 6–9 in Las Vegas.

Located at Oshkosh’s Booth 4418 in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, McNeilus will demonstrate how AI-enabled systems, autonomous features, electrification, and connected technologies are transforming collection operations to enhance safety, productivity, and vehicle performance.

Throughout CES 2026, McNeilus representatives will provide insights into the McNeilus Volterra electric refuse and recycling vehicle, recently recognized as a CES 2026 Innovation Awards honoree in the Construction and Industrial Tech category. The exhibit will also feature other innovations in refuse and recycling collection, with interactive displays illustrating the company’s technology pillars in neighborhoods, airports, job sites, and critical infrastructure.

Visitors can experience the HARR-E autonomous refuse robot, a self-driving AI-powered system for quiet and efficient residential collection, as well as integrated connected and autonomous systems that enhance operator awareness, streamline workflows, and enable data-driven fleet optimization.

McNeilus leaders will participate in “Tech Talks” within the booth, and attendees can explore demonstrations across the Oshkosh portfolio, including robotics-enabled platforms, safety-focused connected technologies, CES Innovation Award–recognized products, and multi-sensory experiences that showcase the company’s vision for neighborhoods, airports, and job sites.

“We’re proud to be part of Oshkosh Corp., where we are united in our mission to support everyday heroes with technology that helps them work in a safe and efficient manner,” says Lee Dreas, McNeilus president. “CES provides an incredible platform to demonstrate how advanced systems including autonomy, AI, connectivity and electrification are shaping the future of refuse and recycling collection. We’re especially honored to have the Volterra electric refuse and recycling vehicle recognized as a CES Innovation Awards Honoree.”

The Innovative Volterra ZSL Electric Refuse and Recycling Vehicle

Manufactured at McNeilus’ Murfreesboro, Tennessee facility, the fully integrated Volterra electric refuse and recycling vehicles combine zero-emission performance with McNeilus’ proven refuse body design. Each vehicle features an electrified drivetrain, smart battery system, and cooperative regenerative braking, delivering all-day route performance on a single charge while optimizing maintenance and operating costs.

The CES recognition comes amid a year of major investment and expansion for McNeilus. Its Dodge Center, Minnesota headquarters recently underwent a comprehensive modernization, introducing Industry 4.0 digital systems, high-flow production lines, robotic paint systems, and end-to-end traceability through a new Manufacturing Execution System. These upgrades enhance scalability and ensure that every refuse and recycling vehicle meets the highest quality standards.

McNeilus’ Murfreesboro facility continues to grow as a hub for electric vehicle innovation and production. Designed to support next-generation products like the Volterra ZSL electric side loader and Volterra ZFL electric front loader, the facility incorporates precision assembly and advanced quality systems to uphold McNeilus’ strict performance and safety standards. This year, the Murfreesboro team earned statewide recognition when the Volterra ZSL was named the “Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee,” reflecting the innovation, craftsmanship, and community pride behind McNeilus’ electrification efforts.

“This CES honoree award illustrates how far we’ve come in reimagining our products and processes to support the future of collection,” said Dreas. “We’re proud to see McNeilus innovation recognized alongside some of the most groundbreaking technologies in the world.”

EVinfo.net’s Take: Don’t Miss Other EV Leaders at CES 2026

EVinfo.net congratulates the McNeilus team on their great EV innovations, making the world a better and cleaner place. Don’t miss these other great EV industry innovators at CES 2026:

EVSTAR’s Comprehensive, Insurance-Backed EV Charger Warranty Protection

EVSTAR will host partnership meetings at CES from January 7–9 (not the 6th).

EVSTAR offers comprehensive, insurance-backed warranty protection to ensure EV chargers operate reliably in any deployment. As charging infrastructure becomes mission-critical for fleets, property owners, network operators, and public providers, EVSTAR’s warranty programs provide confidence by minimizing downtime, controlling costs, and maintaining uninterrupted service.

The company supports a wide range of stakeholders across the EV ecosystem. OEMs can recognize warranty revenue at the point of sale, resellers gain protection against market fluctuations while adding a margin-enhancing service, and charge point and network operators can reduce operational risk across distributed deployments, preserving uptime and revenue streams.

Plug In with Confidence: How TEAL is Solving Charging Reliability at CES 2026

Join TEAL at CES 2026, January 6–9 in Las Vegas, where CMO Robb Monkman and the TEAL team will be available for meetings.

Unreliable EV charging remains a major barrier to adoption, with over 55% of charger failures caused by connectivity issues rather than hardware faults. In a September 2025 interview with EVinfo.net, TEAL CMO Robb Monkman explained that chargers rely on cellular networks for payments, authentication, and real-time data. Single-network setups or conventional approaches, such as mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), often leave chargers offline when connectivity falters. TEAL’s solutions address these challenges, providing robust, reliable connectivity to ensure chargers remain operational and EV drivers can plug in with confidence.
