Driving electric vehicle adoption

Autonomy Extends Green Mobility Services to California’s Inland Empire Region

Autonomy, a pioneering digital electric vehicle subscription service, is set to revolutionise the driving experience in Southern California’s Inland Empire. Renowned for its affordable, swift, and straightforward process, Autonomy offers the Tesla Model 3, paving a pathway for an eco-friendly and premium driving experience. This expansion signifies a step forward not just for Autonomy, but also for the residents of the Inland Empire, enabling them to partake in the electric vehicle revolution with ease and affordability.

Autonomy’s latest expansion comes on the heels of announcements in California’s Central Coast, Sacramento, San Diego, Orange County and the Bay Area. Autonomy launched early in 2022 in Los Angeles.

“Our goal is to get more people into electric vehicles and subscriptions are an ideal way to help make access to EV’s easier and more affordable,” said Scott Painter, founder and CEO of Autonomy. “California residents are supporting the EV industry by boosting their adoption with the aim of helping the state meet its target of 5 million EVs on the road by 2030.”

Autonomy, with its innovative subscription model, comes as a boon for commuters frequently using the numerous freeways in the Inland Empire. By offering single-driver access to HOV lanes and free–or discounted–toll access on California’s infamous 91 Express Lanes, Autonomy significantly alleviates the financial burden of daily commuting. Non-electric vehicle users making a round-trip commute from Riverside to the SR-55, utilizing both segments of the toll each way, are spending approximately $112 weekly (or $448 a month)1. However, with a subscription to a Tesla Model 3 through Autonomy, these toll fees can be waved or substantially reduced, depending on the time of day, by the 91 Express Lanes for the consumer. Additionally, the absence of gas costs with an electric vehicle could result in a monthly saving that nearly covers the Autonomy subscription fee.

For those keen on driving a Tesla Model 3, Autonomy’s swift, simple, and affordable subscription service is a game-changer. Surprisingly, the monthly subscription offered by Autonomy even undercuts Tesla’s own leasing or financing plans. Subscribers can reserve a Model 3 through the Autonomy app with just a $100 refundable deposit. A unique payment dial feature allows customers to tailor their subscription payments, with options ranging from as low as $490 per month with an initial $4,900 start fee, to a minimal start fee of $1,000 and $1k per month, plus tax. A refundable $500 security deposit is required to activate the subscription.

Autonomy’s subscription service provides Californians, now including the residents of the Inland Empire, with an effortless way to reserve an EV through an app within a matter of minutes. This flexible and convenient method of acquiring a vehicle starkly contrasts with the often laborious and restrictive process associated with traditional vehicle loans or leases.

“Southern California does a fantastic job incentivising those with EVs by giving them access to carpool lanes and cheaper toll roads,” said Georg Bauer, co-founder and president of Autonomy. “All of this is bound to further promote the use of green mobility, making it even more convenient for consumers looking to get an Autonomy subscription.”

Autonomy’s monthly payment is a comprehensive package that covers all the traditional costs associated with vehicle ownership. This includes annual registration and licensing fees, routine maintenance, roadside assistance, as well as standard wear and tear on tires, all of which are typically additional expenses on top of a traditional lease or loan. Moreover, Autonomy provides the flexibility to its drivers to subscribe on a month-to-month basis after a minimum commitment of three months. This makes it a viable market option for those who do not wish, or are unable, to afford the long-term commitment associated with buying or leasing an electric car. Autonomy’s subscription model provides a new, radical solution to cater to the increasing demand for electric cars.

Adding to the cost advantage, Autonomy maintains a steady supply of Model 3s that are available much faster than the typical six-to nine-month wait time for a lease or loan.

To subscribe to Autonomy, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download the Autonomy app from the app store (coming soon to Android)
  2. Scan your driver’s license and digital form of payment
  3. Schedule your pickup or delivery

Autonomy takes pride in being the first U.S. company to offer a comprehensive monthly subscription for a Tesla Model 3, with plans to include other popular EV models in the near future. Founded by serial auto entrepreneurs Scott Painter (CarsDirect, TrueCar, Fair) and Georg Bauer (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Tesla, Fair), Autonomy aims to make the customer experience quick and efficient. An order can be placed on the app in as little as 10 minutes, and the vehicle can be picked up from a vending center the next day, or scheduled for delivery within a week.
