Target Announces 300 EV Charging Sites Across U.S., With 35 More Under Construction and 100+ in Development
Leading retailer Target is continuing to expand its electric vehicle charging network, giving EV drivers another reason to stop at its stores while supporting the growing transition to electric transportation. The retailer now hosts one of the largest retail charging footprints in the United States, with more than 300 charging locations across 42 states and more than 3,000 charging stalls available for customers.
The company says EV charging has become a valuable convenience for guests, allowing them to charge their vehicles while shopping for essentials, discovering new products, or taking advantage of other in-store services. Customer feedback frequently highlights charging availability as a feature that enhances the overall shopping experience.
As EV adoption continues to grow, Target is investing in additional charging infrastructure across its national footprint. The company currently has 35 charging sites under construction and more than 100 additional locations in development. The expansion is part of Target’s broader effort to improve the guest experience while incorporating sustainability initiatives into its operations.

Since 2020, Target has increased its EV charging footprint by more than 200%. The company’s first fast-charging location opened in 2017 at its store in San Mateo, California, marking the beginning of a significant expansion effort that has spread charging access across much of the country.
Target works closely with its charging partners to determine where new stations should be installed. Site selection is based on several factors, including local EV adoption rates, consumer charging needs, market conditions, utility availability, and company priorities. This collaborative approach helps ensure that charging infrastructure is deployed where it can provide the greatest benefit to customers.
The retailer’s charging stations support a variety of charging technologies, with most locations accessible to a wide range of electric vehicle models. Drivers can verify compatibility with their specific vehicle before visiting a charging location.
Customers looking for charging stations can search Target’s store network to identify locations that offer EV charging and explore other amenities available at those stores. Many locations also feature services such as Starbucks cafés, CVS Pharmacy locations, and other conveniences that allow shoppers to maximize their time while their vehicles charge.
Target’s properties team continues to evaluate future charging opportunities and work with charging providers to identify additional locations for expansion. The company plans to provide updates as new charging stations are added to its network.
According to EV charging data platform Paren, Target’s charging footprint ranks between the fourth and fifth largest in the United States when measured by total charging ports, highlighting the retailer’s growing role in supporting EV infrastructure nationwide.
